I feel older than I should.
Feeling older than your age — stiffer, slower, more easily tired — is rarely just “getting older.” Much of how we age is driven by a few physiologic systems that can be measured today and improved at almost any age.
Aging is partly a choice of trajectory
Three measurable things shape how you feel and function over time: how much muscle you carry, how fit your heart and lungs are, and how well your metabolism handles fuel. Decline in these isn't fixed by the calendar — it responds to the right inputs.
What we measure
- Muscle and bone — DEXA reveals quiet loss of muscle (sarcopenia) and bone before it becomes a problem.
- Cardiorespiratory fitness — CPET gives a true biological measure of capacity.
- Metabolic health — insulin sensitivity and metabolic flexibility, which influence energy and long-term risk.
Healthspan, not just lifespan
The goal isn't only living longer — it's keeping strength, energy, and independence. Those are the things we measure and protect.
How NorthStar approaches feeling older
We turn a vague feeling into specific numbers — muscle, fitness, metabolic health — and show you exactly where you stand against where you could be. Then we prioritize the one system that will make you feel most like yourself again, and track it over time.
