I'm always tired.
Fatigue that doesn't improve with rest is information. Energy is produced by your metabolism and delivered by your heart, lungs, and muscles — so when it runs low, there is usually a measurable link in that chain. The aim is to find it rather than push through it.
Energy is a physiologic process
Every cell makes energy from the fuel you eat and the oxygen you breathe. Problems anywhere in that system — how efficiently you burn fuel, how well oxygen reaches your muscles, how much muscle you have — show up as fatigue long before they show up on routine labs.
Measurable contributors we look for
- Low cardiorespiratory fitness — when your capacity to use oxygen drops, ordinary days feel harder. Exercise testing measures this precisely.
- Insulin resistance and blood-sugar swings — unstable energy supply produces afternoon crashes. See am I insulin resistant?
- Low muscle mass — muscle is metabolically active tissue; losing it lowers your reserve. Sarcopenia is common and treatable.
- Sleep, thyroid, iron, and nutrition — each has a specific, testable signature.
“Your labs are normal” isn't always an answer
Standard panels are designed to catch disease, not to explain why you feel depleted. A metabolic evaluation looks one layer deeper — at how your body actually produces and uses energy.
How NorthStar approaches fatigue
We treat fatigue as a measurable output of your metabolism and fitness, not a vague complaint. We assess cardiorespiratory capacity, body composition, and metabolic markers, then identify which one is limiting your energy most — and build the plan around that.
