Zone 2 Training: The Foundation of Endurance and Metabolic Health
Zone 2 has become popular for good reason: it's the training intensity that builds your aerobic engine and improves how well your body burns fat for fuel — with relatively low strain.
What Zone 2 actually is
Zone 2 is a moderate intensity you can sustain while holding a conversation — roughly the effort just below where your body starts relying heavily on carbohydrate. Training here improves your mitochondria and your ability to use fat as fuel, the foundation of endurance and metabolic flexibility.
Why it's worth the time
A strong aerobic base supports everyday energy, recovery, and long-term cardiovascular health. It also raises the ceiling for higher-intensity work, making the rest of your training more effective.
Finding your Zone 2 precisely
Heart-rate formulas are rough estimates. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing identifies your actual thresholds, so your Zone 2 is based on your physiology — the basis of a precise exercise prescription.
See where you stand
Education is the first step. A metabolic evaluation turns these concepts into your numbers — and a plan built around them.
