Body Composition & Bone Health

DEXA-based analysis of body fat, lean mass, visceral adiposity, and bone density — because the scale alone tells an incomplete story.

Overview

See Beyond the Scale

Body weight is a crude measure. It does not distinguish between fat and muscle, does not reveal where fat is distributed, and tells nothing about bone health. Two patients at the same weight can have vastly different metabolic risk profiles depending on their underlying composition.

DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) provides a detailed, reproducible assessment of body composition at the tissue level. We measure total body fat percentage, regional fat distribution, visceral adipose tissue (the metabolically active fat surrounding internal organs), lean muscle mass by body region, and bone mineral density with fracture risk stratification.

This information is essential for patients working on weight management, athletes tracking training adaptations, individuals concerned about age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia), and anyone at risk for osteoporosis. We interpret results in clinical context and use them to guide treatment decisions — not just hand over a report.
